If you have missed screening because of the Corvid-19 pandemic, it is important that you now book your screening.
Cervical cancer death rates have been reduced as a result of screening. The addition of the HPV test has reduced the death rate even more. But too many women are still dying from Cervical Cancer.
We know that cervical screening tests provide the best chance of finding cervical cancer early when it can be treated successfully without invasive surgery. In fact, screening can actually prevent most cervical cancers by finding abnormal cervical cell changes at pre-cancerous stage. They can then be treated before they have a chance to turn into a cervical cancer and require invasive surgery.
Despite the benefits of cervical cancer screening, not all women in the UK get screened and most cervical cancers are found in women who have never been screened.
So, if you have missed screening because of the coronavirus pandemic, (as many women have done), contact your GP and book your screening appointment now!
